How to play Super Yatzy
Last updated: 8 November 2026
Each turn you roll five dice up to three times, holding the dice you want between rolls. Then you write your score in one open box. A game lasts fifteen turns, one for each box.
A turn, step by step
- Roll all five dice.
- Hold the dice you want to keep, then roll the rest. You can roll up to three times in a turn.
- Pick one open box and write the score the dice earn there.
The fifteen boxes
The sheet has six upper boxes, Ones to Sixes, and nine lower ones. Each box can be written once.
| Box | How it scores |
|---|---|
| Ones to Sixes | The sum of the dice showing that face |
| One Pair | 10 |
| Two Pairs | 20 |
| Three of a Kind | Three times the matching face |
| Four of a Kind | Four times the matching face |
| Full House | 25 |
| Small Straight | 30, for four dice in a row |
| Large Straight | 40, for five dice in a row |
| Yatzy | 50, for five dice showing the same face |
| Chance | The sum of all five dice |
The upper bonus
The six upper boxes add up the dice showing each face. When their total reaches 63, the sheet adds a bonus of 35 points.
A worked turn
Say the dice show 3, 3, 3, 5 and 6 on the last roll. Threes scores 9, the sum of the dice showing 3. Three of a Kind also scores 9, three times the matching face. Chance scores 20, the sum of all five dice.
